That's the headline of a piece in Fortune magazine's Dec. 26 "Investor's Guide 2006." Jon Birger and David Stires write: "The economy is strong, but perils abound. We find TEN STURDY STOCKS to see you through a tricky year."

And where did they find those stocks? A hint: none of them has a ticker symbol longer than three letters.
