NYSE Arca handles a billion shares

NYSE Arca handled 1.1 billion shares yesterday, the market's first billion-share day.

This news release indicates that nine of NYSE Arca's 10 busiest days have occurred in the first four months of 2006.

We do a lot of Listed trading on ARCA and definitely noticed that it picked up on 4/27 across the board.

What is it that makes ARCA so much more active in Listed from day to the next?
