Return of the Redundos

By: Ray Pellecchia
File Under: NYSE

Took a quick break from vacation to run through my e-mail (can you do that, I mean, take a break from taking a break?). Anyway, before I knew it I was back on this thing, knowing you couldn't make it a full week without a shot of news and nonsense.

Awright, you could've made it. Couldn't you humor me just a bit?

Anyway, I see the world has managed to continue turning during my little hiatus. So thought I'd take a few minutes to round up the news we've issued to date this week. (I know, you want news we haven't issued, but again, I play the cards I'm dealt. Besides, the only M&A activity I know about is that my butt has merged with the chaise lounge on my deck while dandelion and crabgrass have acquired much of my front lawn.)

· NYSE Group Announces First Quarter 2006 Financial Results. Some interesting stuff here in the highlights, in our first quarterly financial statement since the merger.

· NYSE Arca Continues to Add New Order Types for Enhanced Trading Strategies and Efficiencies. I note that our NYSE Arca platform is following the good practice of creating greater choice for customers, a favorite theme of the Hybrid set.

· NYSE Group Employees to Partner with Operation HOPE to Promote Financial Literacy to Inner-City Youth. This is a personal favorite of mine, being a member of our Diversity Council.

· And on the extra-curricular front, you might recall that in this post, I worked in a reference to a band called the Redundos, and as a lark wondered aloud if they were looking for help. So the other day what comes across the blog mailbox?

Hey whats up? Um... I was just looking for ways to spread The Redundos.. and i came across this site.... so i think the quote of the week for me is... (even tho I may not be able to memorize it! lol)

"I emphatically deny that I posted those names in exchange for a drummer gig with The Redundos, though I would plug them again if they change their name to Raymond and The Redundos."

MJ

In an ensuing e-mail conversation, I've learned that MJ is the drummer, promises he is not coming after me for coveting his gig, and the band has just finished a full-length CD. I checked out their site: punk and ska, high-top Converse, Ramones t-shirts, and they don't look old enough to vote, though MJ says they are. Motto: "The Best Band in South PA Named After a Spanish Candy." Garage bands appear to be alive and well and using the 'Net to get out there. Kinda restores your faith. May they rock long and hard!

Comments

Hi!! Well the fact is that Jim now can vote, I can vote, and I believe Rog can vote... but we want to change the world through the music... not the voting machines! lol Thanks Ray (may I call you ray!?) for the interest!! Peace!!

MJ -- You can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay, or ... never mind, that routine was before your time. Ray will do just fine.

Good to hear from you, and happy birthday to all!

Any great summer gigs or other Redundo news to report?

Keep on rockin' (but don't forget, votin' can be world-changing too).
