Q&A: Pre-opening indications

By: Ray Pellecchia
File Under: NYSE, NYSE

Been trying to lay low during vacation, but the quest for knowledge about the Hybrid Market takes no holiday.

In other words, the HT mailbox is getting full, and there's been so much to blog about lately that I'm going to chip away at the backlog a bit, 'til I get back in the office afer Labor Day.

A reader from the buy side writes:

Will the specialist maintain control of the opening of stocks and will there still be pre-opening indications once phase 3 is rolled out.

Thanks for your time.

Yes and yes. There will still be pre-opening indications, and a single-price opening trade with the specialist managing that auction. These are value-added features of the NYSE marketplace.

Good question. Thanks for writing!
