Q&A: Phases I and II

By: Ray Pellecchia
File Under: NYSE, NYSE

An academic writes:

I want to have a list of stocks activated in Phase I and II for Hybrid markets.
-- JC Kim

JC -- All of our stocks are active for both Phases I and II, and Phase III is in progress. Phases I and II were completed in March and June, respectively.

Hope that helps. Thanks for writing!

Happy Tuesday, folks. At least, I hope it's happier than Monday's market was. A little historical trivia for you:

Today in NYSE History
28 Nov 1914 -- After closing for 4½ months at the outbreak of World War I, the Exchange reopened for some bond trading under price restrictions.

Four and a half months -- now that's a trading halt!

According to our history book:

1914 -- As armed conflict engulfs Europe, securities exchanges around the world suspend operations to arrestplunging prices. Left as "the only market in which a world panic could vent itself," the NYSE closes its doors on July 31. It does not fully reopen for 4 1/2 months, the longest shutdown in Exchange history."
