Another six issues will join Phase III of the NYSE Hybrid Market this Friday, Dec. 1, increasing the total number of activated issues to 262.

Here is the updated list of activated stocks, in .pdf and Excel formats.

A little historical trivia for your Wednesday edification, folks:

Today in NYSE History
29 Nov 1978 The NYSE announced a comprehensive overhaul of its trading floor, featuring new electronic trading posts supported by a tubular steel space frame suspended thirty feet above the trading floor.

The technology you see on the trading floor today is all new, but the familiar gold-colored space frame is still there, carrying data and air-conditioning lines to the trading floor. It also provides the backbone on which hang the overhead screens. To get the frame into the building, we took out one of the huge windows behind the Broad Street columns. The frame was delivered in sections through the open window by a crane, with inches to spare on either side. The whole project, which didn't interrupt trading, was quite an engineering feat.

How many companies are there in the NYSE that will be using the Hybrid and what date will they all trade via Hybrid?

Bernard -- I wrote on Wednesday that the SEC had approved our "omnibus" rule filing, leaving two approvals to go.

Today, I can report that we're one step closer. My understanding is that the SEC has approved the filing concerning Rule 127 trades (covering manual block transactions).

One step to go. Because the one remaining filing (covering stabilization requirements) was not approved by Nov. 30, we filed to extend the pilot on it. The extension is in place, and we expect that the "permanent" filing will be approved imminently.

Once that is in hand, we will be actlvating this month much larger groups of stocks into Phase III of the Hybrid Market, culminating in all our listed issues being Hybridified. I still don't have specific dates yet, but I'm confident that things are about to really take off.

Again, we know it's been a long process, and we appreciate everyone's patience, as well as your interest in getting the rest of the issues Hybridized. The SEC is working hard on its review process, and our top priority here is to make sure we get this thing right. In addition to getting it soon, of course.
