maybe not best place to post this, but haven't seen any exchanges updates recently...

A bunch of people have told me that today all the B stocks have gone away and you can now short on a downtick everywhere... I haven't seen this on any nyse sites, is this true?

I thought this had to do with the Reg SHO pilot which was still ongoing...

any clarifications would be welcome.

Josh -- Yes, the SEC has repealed the tick test for short sales, effective July 6.
Here's NYSE Regulation's Information Memo on the subject.

Tony -- I can't hazard a prediction on the impact of the change. I'm sure the SEC will be keeping an eye on the effects, and when I hear something I'll pass it along. But we're still in early days on this.

Sorry for my delay in responding; I was out last week. Thanks for writing, both of you!

Hi, this doesn't totally relate but it's about the specialist and I was wondering when I am sitting with an offer or a bid on the NYB how can the specialist pull the whole NYB to 1 with my shares still out there?? I've been wondering what's going on here for a while and this looks like the best place to get an answer, thanks.
