NYSE Euronext's Europe volumes hit daily record (Reuters) -- "The European exchanges run by transatlantic bourse operator NYSE Euronext had their busiest day ever on Friday, as markets first fell then, in the wake of a U.S. Federal Reserve discount rate cut, sharply recovered."
NYSE Euronext Markets Report Record Transaction Volumes for Week Ending 17 August (NYSE.com) -- New daily records for our European (17 August) and U.S. (16 August) cash equities trading. European equities trading also had a record week.
U.S. cash equities trading operations --NYSE and NYSE Arca -- reported combined volume of more than 20.3 billion shares traded this week, the second highest ever.
Liffe recorded its busiest week ever with more than 30 million futures and options contracts traded in the week ending 17 August. Short-term interest-rate products also had their busiest week ever, with more than 18 million contracts traded this week; the previous record was 13 million for the week ending 10 August.
