From Marisa Ricciardi: In celebration of its 40th anniversary, The Gap, Inc. (NYSE:GPS) made history at NYSE by outfitting traders and floor personnel with Gap 1969 Premium Jeans. Friday, Aug. 21 marked the first day in Exchange history traders and employees were able to relax the dress code and wear jeans to work.
Later, Gap North America President Marka Hansen and fellow founding family members rang The Closing Bell remotely from the company’s headquarters in San Francisco.
The promotional partnership with Gap, Inc. serves to reinforce NYSE Euronext's strong commitment in supporting the many brand initiatives of NYSE-listed companies. One of the many benefits setting NYSE apart from other markets includes the use of our global visibility platform. In fact, the promotion with Gap generated over 190 media hits and reached an audience of over 12,700,000 viewers. Media outlets such as CNBC, Fox Business, WSJ, BizBash and others covered the story and highlighted the event on their Web sites. The Gap communications team was thrilled with the measured success and overall outcome.
We hope to continue leveraging these partnerships and welcome the opportunity to do so whenever possible. Check out the posted photos for a feel of what went down when the floor went casual for the day!
